What Sparked the Idea?
Insectika’s journey began with Arun Das, a hunger relief hero turned sustainability pioneer. While tackling hunger in flood-stricken, Arun had a lightbulb moment: What if nature’s recyclers Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae could solve food and waste problems? Armed with a rooftop and relentless curiosity, Arun spent two years perfecting his craft and built the first bioreactor to turn trash into treasure: protein-rich larvae.
Who Joined the Mission?
Meanwhile, Benjamin Rubin, fresh off a big win with his London-based venture, was itching for a new challenge. Combining his expertise in insect ecology with his drive to fight global warming, he scoured the globe for the perfect project. Existing insect-farming ideas? Too boring. Benjamin wanted to flip the script and reimagine the industry from the ground up.
